Meet Your Doula
Hello, my name is Trisha, and I am a certified Birth Doula and Perinatal Nutrition Educator. I have given birth to 6 children, one whom I placed for adoption, and love everything about birth. I live at home with my husband, 5 kids, 1 dog and 2 cats! My kids range in ages from newborn to 16. I have recently moved to DFW from NW NJ and couldn’t be happier to be here! I am here for you, and my sole mission is to help you have the birth you have always dreamt about. I absolutely love childbirth and pregnancy and am so happy to be able to do it as my profession! From the time I had my first son at 19, I was in awe and knew I wanted to do something with birth. It took a long time to figure out my place, but I am so excited to be here! I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you better!

FAQs
What is a Birth Doula?
A birth doula is a certified professional who is trained in 5 core competencies:
Physiology of Childbirth
Common Interventions and Evidence Based Care
Comfort Measures for Childbirth
Emotional Support
Communicating with Medical Care Providers and Clients Utilizing Emotional Intelligence
A birth doula is NOT a medical professional and does not perform any routine clinical tasks such as fetal heart monitoring, blood pressure checks, cervical checks, suggesting medications whether over the counter or herbal, etc.
Why Should I hire a Birth doula?
Pregnancy and childbirth are such an amazing and intimate time for families and the idea of bringing someone in can seem daunting. As your birth doula, I am there solely for you and to look out for your interests. In your prenatal appointments, we will go over different relaxation techniques, pain relief techniques, labor and birth positions, as well as your specific birth plan. When you are in labor and you have so many people there telling you their opinion or trying to use unnecessary interventions that you don’t want, it can be intimidating and hard to find your voice. I am there to help you find your voice and start this lifelong journey empowered and strong. A 2013 study that the NIH conducted found that when a woman has the continuous support of a doula,
The pitocin use goes down 31%
Cesarean rate decreases by 28%
There is a 12% increase in spontaneous vaginal births
9% decrease in medications for pain relief
14% decrease in newborns being admitted to a special care nursery
34% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience

What can I expect from you as my Doula?
We will meet at least 2 times prenatally, where we can discuss your birth plan, go over different scenarios, learn all about different comfort and relaxation techniques, birth positions, etc. If you would like to have me attend one of your doctor or midwife appointments, I would be more than happy to. I will be on call 24/7 from 37 weeks to 42 weeks. If you happen to go into preterm labor I will do my very best to make it, and if it is not possible I will be available virtually. I will be at your birth for as long as you need and want me there, helping you navigate and there for your baby. I will stay and help you with the golden hour. I can help you with the initial breastfeeding. I will also come for one postpartum appointment whenever you would like me to.
